Johnsons Stationary Store

Johnson's Store opened its doors on June 15th 1978, downstairs of the dweling house of Arthur and Florence Johnson at 31 Main Street. It offered Toledo residents dress shoes, jeans pants, fashionable women's and men's  clothing. So as to meet the demands of its customers, a variety of cloth sold by yard was added to the stock; then sewing materials and acccesories were added.  Foot and hand sewing machines, radios and tape recorders, electronic gadgets and accessories  cosmetic items, costume jewelry, hair products were added to the shelves. Whatever the public demanded, Johnson's Store provided. If we did not have it you didn't need it. Everything that is, except grocery items and foodstuff. Recorded cassettes and CDs and blank CDs, audio and video cassettes became very good selling items over the years.

In the early years, soft drinks and beer were sold from the warehouses in the back. Butane gas was another necessity so 100 lb tanks were exchanged; as that increased in volume, a large tank was installed in the backyard and butane tanks could now be filled with any amounts needed.

Two years ago after serving Toledo for 30 years, Miss Flo decided to downsize her store and sell only greeting cards, stationery and office supplies, and small gift items. One can get instant ID pictures and take film to be developed also.
